Olympic Visitors Centre

East London

Client:

ISG

About the Project:

Located in the heart of East London’s ambitious regeneration zone, the Olympic Visitors Centre served as a gateway for the public to witness the transformation of Stratford into the host of the 2012 London Games. As a highly visible and public-facing space, it demanded an exceptional level of finish and compliance with stringent safety regulations.
ISG required a trusted contractor to deliver passive fire protection that was both technically robust and aesthetically flawless. With high foot traffic expected and exposed finishes on display, the fire protection system had to seamlessly integrate with the centre’s design while meeting the necessary safety standards.
System Building Services Limited was engaged to apply a specialist fire-retardant varnish to the timber flooring throughout the visitor centre. Working to tight aesthetic and safety requirements, our team ensured a flawless finish that preserved the natural look of the wood while providing essential passive fire protection. All works were completed in an operational public environment, requiring care, discretion and absolute attention to detail.
SBS delivered a high-spec fire protection solution that combined form and function – contributing to the safe, polished presentation of one of East London’s most important public venues during a transformative period in the city’s history.
