Sky Headquarters

West London

Mace

About the Project:

Sky’s West London headquarters is a landmark in modern commercial architecture, featuring open-plan mezzanines, extensive timber finishes and a dramatic triple-height atrium. Designed to be as visually striking as it is functional, the building required a fire protection strategy that could deliver uncompromising safety without disrupting the architectural intent.
Mace sought a specialist fire protection contractor to provide comprehensive passive fire protection throughout the facility. Given the prominence of natural wood across internal finishes and the building’s open-plan structure, the challenge lay in achieving full compliance without compromising the high-end visual aesthetic or workspace functionality.
System Building Services Limited delivered a complete fire protection package tailored to the complexity of the Sky HQ. Our team treated extensive timber elements with clear fire-retardant varnish, preserving the warm, natural look of the wood while achieving the necessary fire rating. We also performed diamond drilling, installed fire stopping systems throughout service penetrations and implemented underfloor fire barrier solutions, ensuring hidden protection matched the building’s premium design.
SBS played a vital role in safeguarding one of West London’s most distinctive commercial buildings. Our detailed, high-standard application of passive fire protection helped Mace deliver a world-class HQ for Sky, blending performance with precision in every detail.
