About the Project:

Standing at 310 metres tall, The Shard is the tallest building in the United Kingdom and one of the most recognisable landmarks in Europe. Designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, it dominates the London skyline with its striking glass façade and is home to offices, restaurants, a hotel and the famous public viewing gallery at The View from The Shard.

As a flagship symbol of modern London, The Shard demanded nothing less than absolute precision and professionalism from every contractor involved. When fire protection work threatened to delay completion, SBS was brought in as a trusted last-resort solution.

With deadlines looming and no room for error, System Building Services Limited deployed a rapid response team to deliver urgent fire protection to exposed structural steel. Working under intense time pressure, our specialists applied high-performance intumescent coatings and carried out critical last-minute fire protection touch-ups.

Thanks to our quick mobilisation and technical expertise, SBS played a key role in ensuring the building met its fire safety requirements, helping Coffey Group keep the project on schedule and The Shard open on time.
