About the Project:

As the largest stadium in the UK and one of the most iconic sporting venues in the world, Wembley Stadium is a national landmark that hosts major events ranging from international football finals to world-class concerts. Designed to accommodate over 90,000 spectators, the stadium’s scale, complexity and public profile make safety and operational performance critical at every level. During scheduled refurbishment and upgrade works, the client required trusted partners capable of delivering specialist fire protection solutions without disrupting the stadium’s operational schedule.
  • Project Overview:
Multiplex Construction Europe Ltd appointed SBS to deliver a specialist passive fire protection package across key areas of the stadium. With much of the work taking place in publicly accessible zones and beneath highly engineered structural elements, the solution needed to meet rigorous safety requirements while maintaining the architectural and visual standards expected of a world-class venue.
  • Our Role:
System Building Services Limited carried out the installation of passive fire protection systems including structural fireproofing using intumescent coatings on key steel elements throughout the concourse and hospitality zones. Our team also implemented fire stopping solutions in risers, service voids and plant rooms to restrict the spread of fire and smoke across large, interconnected areas. Additionally, SBS provided underfloor fire barrier installations in key technical spaces, ensuring compliance with compartmentation strategies while allowing for ongoing stadium operations. All works were delivered to a high aesthetic standard, with consideration given to the stadium’s operational schedule, event calendar and visitor experience.
