System Building Services provide, advise on and install high-performance, non-combustible fire protection boards for the encasement of columns and beams. Fire boards are strong and lightweight building boards that are fully certified for construction and offer up to 240 minutes of fire protection. They are simple to work with and fix and can easily be cut, drilled and shaped without the need of special tools. The boards are also designed to be resistant to the effects of moisture and will not decay or rot.

The boards can be applied to internal partitions, shaftwalls, ceilings, floors and roofs. Due to their properties they can be utilised on both internal and external walls and are also suitable to be used with structural steel, around service enclosures and in protected zones.

Dependent upon the specific installation, we provide a range of fire boards from calcium silicate boards reinforced with specially selected fillers through to gypsum and mineral fibre boards. The boards are formulated without inorganic fibres and do not contain the toxic chemical formaldehyde. Boards come in an off-white colour and are simple to decorate with a smooth surface on one side and a lightly textured reverse side.

Fire boards can be installed at an early stage in the construction programme and retain their stability in damp and humid conditions enabling installation before wet trades are completed or the building has been air sealed or weather-proofed. Fire boards have good impact resistance allowing their use in most industrial applications and further resist mould, most chemicals and rodent or insect attack.

Fire boards and their component materials are not classified as dangerous substances and therefore can be placed in skips with other building waste.
